Vincent “Jim” Fischio, 87, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, July 9, 2020 in Truman Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

Vincent “Jim” Fischio, 87, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, July 9, 2020 in Truman Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Sabatino and Angelina (Marchione) Fischio, Vincent was born June 28, 1933 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Vince served four years in the United States Navy before retiring from Greer Steel.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret “Peg” (Zengler) Fischio; his sons, Michael (Debra) Fischio and John Fischio; his daughters, Christine Sprague, Lori (Chopper) Phillips and Susan (Jim) Hatcher; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two sisters, Erma Frew and Helen Sacherman.

Vince was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Amico, Josephine, Clara, Pasquale, Mary and Frank and son-in-law, Robert Sprague.

There will be no calling hours and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

Contributions may be made in Vincent’s memory to Truman Community Hospice House, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663 or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 139 Third Street NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.

I found out last night that he was sick & passed away !! I know How it is because I Lost My Dad 15 yrs. ago... Well I Hope all of you Will Feel Better in the future but it takes awhile...Hello to Everyone that I haven't seen forever & I Give my hopes mostly to Peg !!......Prayers & Take-Care !!

We are so sorry for all of the families lost. He will be sadly missed. Always looked for him in church always had his hand out for me to shake and after mass would talk about sports. RIP dear friend. God had better plans for you.
