Spencer Louis Monticelli, age 19, of Uhrichsville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 20, 2021, following a motorcycle accident.

Born on May 2, 2002 in Aultman Hospital at Canton, Spencer is the son of Gregg and Susan Risher Monticelli.

Spencer was a 2020 graduate of Claymont High School where he was on the football and fishing teams. He also graduated from Buckeye Career Center where he studied Electrical Systems Technology and was presently employed by Cooper Standard at New Philadelphia.

Even if you had only met Spencer once, he was instantly a friend. He was known as kind, loving, rotten ornery and adventurous. His infectious laugh could instantly fill a room. Spencer loved being around people and making others laugh. At a young age, he could whistle just about any tune and as he grew older, he often became the center of attention as he grabbed a microphone and sang karaoke in Naples, Florida and was even known for his great dancing skills. It was no secret Spencer had a great love for dropping a fishing line anywhere near water. He lived to fish and could talk about the sport for hours on end.

In addition to his parents, Spencer will be missed by his siblings, Allison Monticelli, Micah Monticelli, Alec (Madisen) Monticelli, Solomon (fiancé, Fabiana Mosquera) Whitmire and Maddison (fiancée, Brandon Patterson) Whitmire; a nephew, Jaxx; two nieces, Nova and Sutton; his grandparents, Louis and Karen Monticelli, John and Bonnie Daugherty, and Fred and Linda Risher as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

A celebration of Spencer’s life will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 11 AM with Pastors Jeff Bartell, Alan Forbus and Pam Forbus sharing the gospel. The family will not be greeting guests prior to or following the service. Those unable to attend are welcome to view the service via a livestream on the funeral home’s Facebook Page: Facebook.com/geibcares.

The family requests that contributions instead of floral arrangements be directed to the Claymont Foundation, PO BOX 222, Uhrichsville, Ohio, 44683 where a scholarship in his memory is being established for Claymont High School students who will be attending Buckeye Career Center and will be participating in the Electrical Systems Technology program.

His passing is such a tragic loss for your family and for the countless number of people who knew Spencer. As one of Spencer’s teachers I’ll always remember his kindness, his respectfulness, and, above all, his ornery smile. His smile could light up a room! Your strong faith will be a source of comfort in the days and weeks to come. Cherish those wonderful memories of Spencer. Much sympathy and love, Mrs. Watson (Michelle)

Dearest Gregg, Susan & Family...We are so heart broken over your loss of such a fine young man. Spencer Monticelli was such an amazing young man. Coaching him in baseball was an honor and he always gave a 100% on the field..his smile and presence was undeniable. I just spoke with Spencer a couple weeks ago at the gym, and as always I was greeted with that awesome outgoing personality that lights up the room. You all did a wonderful job of raising such a fine young man. We mourn with you, but also are very grateful that even in the short amount of time that we had Spencer he has finished his race and now has fulfilled his purpose and is reigning with his dad upstairs. We all will keep the torch alive for Spencer and one day we all will be reunited with him soon enough. With love and tears, Matt, Stacey, Kaytrin, Seth, Josiah, Leah & Nolan Brant

Spencer was the greatest kid , I remember him coming over to the garage and asking “Hey Wolfee can we go swimming “ and always willing to help Buster out doing little things . I will never forget the story of when he was a youngster and getting excited about the ice cream truck while he was in the shower and ran out the door in his birthday suit to stop him . . Oh Spencer, the memories I will cherish of our brief time together. I remember pulling you on a tube behind our boat and your swim trunks coming off. You tried to serve me breakfast in bed when you were so young and we were on vacation together. You loved our cookies so much that you brought Chloe to help ice some. Then I stupidly helped talk your mom into getting you that dang LOUD car only to find that I had to drive it home from Cbus because it was a stick shift! We laughed the whole way home. I loved your great heart, your sweet smile, and your love for the underdog. Can you see the Great Wall of China from up there? I love you.

Although I didn’t really hang out with him all that much. But when I did Spencer was always cheerful, smiling and just a very happy kid. I never once seen him mad or grouchy. I was first introduced to him my first year of high school. Spencer was in my woodworking class. He was a year ahead of me. Later to find out that my brother Austen was really good friends with his brother. So as a little brother does I bugged my brother if I could tag along with him and his buddies only to find out that Spencer was one of those buddies. I thought that was pretty cool that he was so close with the family and hung out with a friend that I had just met. There are no words that can describe the tragic loss to this world, Spencer brought people up when they were feeling down. His laughter and all of his smiles were contagious. We have lost a brother, a son, a friend and a role model, but where he is now I’m positive that he’s affecting the ones in the sky making it a way brighter place. I’m happy to have met a friend that was always positive and an amazing morale. Thank you for these things that you have left me with. Your memories will be cherished. Rest easy.
