Raymond Glenn Mickley, 70, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Union Hospital at Dover.

A son of the late Charles and Sylvia (Maldovan) Mickley, Ray was born May 27, 1948 at Massillon, Ohio.

Ray attended Massillon Washington High School where he was a proud member of the football team. He then graduated in 1966 from Canton Lehman High School and also attended Ohio University.

He started his professional career as a salesman with Humphries Auto City at Dover and later became the owner and operator of Broadway Motors at New Philadelphia. After 15 years of operating Broadway Motors, Ray felt he was ready for retirement. It wasn’t long after retiring that he realized retirement was not for him and he returned to work as a salesman with Parkway Auto Group at Dover.

Ray was a member of the New Philadelphia Elks and he enjoyed golfing and playing cards. He especially loved growing and nurturing his prized possessions, his hibiscus plants in his flower beds.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kaleen (Buehler) Mickley; a son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Natalie Mickley of Canton; and a sister, Carolyn Morris of Panama City, Florida.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ryan Michael Mickley; two brothers and two sisters.

In keeping with Ray’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ray has been on an incredible journey over the past year and Kaleen, Josh and Natalie would like to thank all of their family, his friends at Parkway and his many special friends for their love and support.

Contributions may be made in Ray’s memory to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.

Kayleen - so sorry to hear about Ray. Perhaps they are not the stars in the sky, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones shine down to let us know they are still with us.
