Ralph T. Moore, age 87, of Zoarville, died Friday, October 8, 2021, while in his residence, following a period of declining health.

Born in Lynn, West Virginia on April 12, 1934, Ralph was a son of the late G. Darius and Josephine Alice Murphy Moore. Ralph attended one year of school at the former Zoarville School after the family relocated to the Tuscarawas Valley and went on to graduate from Dover High School in 1953.

In 1955, he married the love of his life, the former Shirley Homan. A year later, he was drafted into the United States Army and upon his honorable discharge, returned home where he briefly worked for the former East Sparta Ceramic Company. He soon joined the Reeves Steel Company, later AK Steel, at Dover and was employed there until his retirement 27 and a half years later.

Ralph’s faith was a large part of his life having been a longtime, active, member of St. Paul’s Community Church at Mineral City. During the summer months Ralph could often be found caring for his vegetable garden and in his spare time away from the garden, Ralph could be found woodworking, following the Cleveland Indians, and enjoying vacations with his wife. Later in life, as he was able, Ralph enjoyed attending the activities of his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of 66 years, Ralph will be deeply missed by his children, Janet (Garry) Cornell of Bolivar, Robert (Marcia) Moore of Flushing, Michigan, and Kathy (Barry) Collins of Dover; six grandchildren, Kevin (Lexi) Cornell, Rachel Cornell, Stephen Moore, Ethan (Kristen) Moore, Luke (Allie) Moore, and Drew Moore as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by four siblings, Ruth, Maxine, Ray, and James.

The family will receive guests one hour prior to a memorial service on Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Pastor Mark Gross will lead a service beginning at 11:00 AM. Masks and social distancing are recommended. Inurnment will follow in the Dover Burial Park. All are invited to share in a meal and fellowship in the St. Paul’s Community Church following the services.

Memorial contributions in Ralph’s name may be directed to the St. Paul’s Community Church, 8733 1st Street, Mineral City, Ohio 44656 or to the Mineral City Volunteer Fire Department, 8495 S High Street, Mineral City, Ohio 44656
