George Jacob Baker, age 73, of Roswell, died on Friday, September 2, 2022, in his residence after a period of declining health.

Born in Bolivar, Ohio on February 24, 1949, George was a son of the late Jacob George and Angeline (Renner) Baker.

George retired from Zimmer Manufacturing after 38 years.  George loved to make wooden toys for kids.  In his younger years he built sprint cars and raced them at local racetracks.  After he married, he realized that racing was an expensive hobby, and he began to fish and had a great passion for fishing.  George proudly served in the US Air Force.

He is survived by his wife Brenda (Wiggins) Baker, who he married on February 24, 1985; his children, Jacob Baker, Shelly Baker and Randall Powell II; grandchildren, Chloe Foster, Brayden Powell and Alexis Powell; great-granddaughter Aleynah Powell; sisters, Ginger Hall and Penny Cagle; brother, Kenny Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents.

No public services are planned at this time. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation care.

Thoughts and prayers for the family and friends of George. George was truly a kind soul who always had a smile on his face. I remember George from living in Strasburg where his father had a shoe repair business and George also worked alongside his father.

So sorry to hear of George’s passing. I worked with him at Zimmer for many years. I don’t think there was anything that he couldn’t fix. Had many conversations with him in the spring room. Rest In Peace George.
