Christine Kay Heil, 68, of Gnadenhutten, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 in Cleveland Clinic-Union Hospital at Dover.

Born in Dennison, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Spillman and Marjorie Jean (Goettge) Ludwig and a graduate of the former Indian Valley South High School. Chris worked as a secretary and retired after 30 years of service with the former Cochran Law Office at Gnadenhutten and also served as the clerk for Clay Union Cemetery at Gnadenhutten. A woman of tremendous faith, Chris was a member of the Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship at Uhrichsville and a longtime teacher in their children’s church. Chris loved her grandchildren and could always be found attending their sporting or band events. She also loved animals especially her many dogs. In her free time, she enjoyed doing ceramics, shopping, crafts and making blankets and keepsakes for her family. Chris also enjoyed trips to Niagara Falls, Canada where many memories were made with her family. Chris will be remembered for her fun-loving personality and her laugh that could light up a room.

On November 9, 1973, Christine married John O. Heil, in the Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison and together shared over 48 years of marriage before her passing. Chris is also survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Amanda Heil of Uhrichsville and John “Mike” and Tiffany Heil of Tuscarawas; her six grandchildren, Edward, Xander, Liam, Micah, Aryanna and Briella.

In addition to her parents, Christine is also preceded in death by her sister, Patricia A. Ludwig.

In keeping with her wishes, Chris is to be cremated through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a Memorial Service celebrating Chris’s life will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022 beginning at 12 PM in Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship at Uhrichsville with Bishop Tom Klaserner and Pastor Jimmy Stull officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the beginning of the service. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the church hall.

The family requests that memorial contributions, in Christine’s honor, be directed to either the Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship Youth Camp, c/o Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship, 132 Kutcham Drive, Uhrichsville, Ohio 44683, or, Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Road NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.

Dear John, You and your family are all in my prayers. I will always remember Chris for her smile and her excitement over the little 'thank you' gift I gave you each month. She was a true gem in every sense of the word! I will be unable to attend as I have prior obligations but I will be thinking of you and praying for you during the upcoming events. I may have only known her for a few years but I counted her as a sweet friend who loves Jesus. Just imagine her now sitting at Jesus' feet and seeing His smile! I can't even imagine!

Chrissie was a life long friend. We spent our childhood together growing up on Spring Street. We walked to school daily until she started junior high. Our family remained lifetime freinds. I have many fond memories of growing up together and our family expanding. I will miss you my friend.
