Alfred R. Miller, Jr. Age 85, of New Philadelphia died Sunday, March 28, 2021, in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital at Dover.

A son of the late Alfred R. and Florence A. (Snyder) Miller, Alfred was born on March 7, 1936 in Youngstown. Following his graduation from high school he entered into the United States Army and proudly served his country from 1959 until 1962.

On December 1, 1962, he married the former Dorothy Snyder and together the couple raised two sons. Alfred was a mechanic for the General Electric Company in Youngstown for 38 years. He enjoyed woodworking and will be remembered by his family for his mechanical nature and the ability to build something from a simple pile of junk.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, Alfred is survived by their two sons, Nelson Miller of Austintown and Dennis (Amy) Miller of New Castle, Pennsylvania; his grandsons, Steven Miller, Tyler Miller, Kyle Miller and Sam Miller and a sister, Suzanne Burnett of New Middletown, Ohio.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Anita Miller

Lorie and I are very sad on the passing of Al. Al and I went back to our much younger days there in Youngstown. We spent many hours as good buddies and they always were good times. In 2001 Lorie and I had the priiledge of going to Branson Missouri with Al and his dear wife Dorothy.as we saw shows and just had a ball. Al and I were into cars as younger men as Al was always a Ford man and I leaned to GM cars. I'll never forget the Studebaker that I think belong to Al's dad..I want to give our sympathy to Dorothy and Nelson and Dennis along with the grandchildren. I'll miss talking to Al on the phone as we are living in Tennessee and of course he and Dorothy are up in Ohio.
